Tim Russell was born and raised in Athens, Ohio, where he grew up in a Christian home. Tim holds both his undergraduate degree and Masters of Ministry Degree from Kentucky Christian College. Following graduation, he married the former Amy Pifer, who also grew up in a Christian home. She attended Kentucky Christian College, where her father was a minister and professor of Kentucky Christian College. Tim was ordained and entered the full-time ministry in 1974. He has served churches in Kentucky, Ohio, and currently in Lawrenceburg/Greendale, Indiana.
Tim and Amy recently celebrated 25 years of service with our congregation. Tim and Amy are well known and loved at Greendale church and within the larger community of Lawrenceburg. Speaking the truth in love is the essence of Tim’s Sunday morning sermons, which are always encouraging and challenging. During his tenure at the church, Tim has served the community in various roles beyond his regular visits to our local Dearborn County Hospital, and has officiated many weddings and funerals. Throughout his 25 years in the community, Tim has served as a volunteer Chaplain at the Dearborn County Hospital. He also served for 3 years as Hospice Chaplain for Dearborn, Ripley, and Ohio Counties. He has served on various committees within the school system and community, and currently sits on the Dearborn County Juvenile Center Advisory Board.
Tim and Amy are the first people members see at the side of their hospital bed, or at their side for comfort during deaths in the family. His wife, Amy, teaches a womens’ class on Sunday mornings, sings in the choir, and can be found in just about every working of the church. Greendale church’s “Live Nativity” is the brainchild of Amy, and she directs the project every year. Amy is truly the heart of the Greendale Church. Tim and Amy have two children: Kyle, who is an Elementary School Principal in Worthington, Kentucky. He is married to Theresa, who is a High School Choir Director. They have one daughter, Leah. Tim and Amy’s daughter, Megan, is married to Brandon Hatfield, who is the minister of the Fairdale Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. They have 3 children; Ethan, Jacob, and Addelyn. The Russells epitomize what it means to “serve the Lord with love”.
